During the Monday evening commute, a two-car crash on Davidsonville Road near Rossback Road resulted in the death of two women. Their identity has not yet been released to the media.
Early indications are that it was a head-on collision that happened shortly before 6 p.m.
The crash happened along a portion of Davidsonville Road (MD-214), which is a two-lane country road that becomes a main commuting thoroughfare in the morning and evening. The accident happened between Rutland Road and Bottner Road. This is just north of the Route 50 interchange for Crofton/Davidsonville.
At 6 p.m., South River Source posted information about this crash on Facebook, including a workaround route for Gambrills and Crofton commuters who could get no further north on Davidsonville Road than the Route 50 interchange.
The early dispatch for Anne Arundel Police and Fire indicated that there was a victim, or victims, trapped. With that call, an additional engine was requested to help with extraction. Shortly thereafter, a second call came through dispatch that the victims had died.
It is unclear if there were others injured. We will update this story as information becomes available.

Traffic was diverted, leaving Crofton and Gambrills commuters to find alternate routes. Photo by Cynthia Giorgio.
Anne Arundel County Fire and Anne Arundel County Police will likely be on scene into the evening investigating the crash.
Our sympathies to the families of the victims who lost their lives earlier this evening.
