Local Fire Departments Clarify Fundraising Efforts

Both the Galesville Volunteer Fire Department and the Deale Volunteer Fire Departmnet have issued notices that some solicitations in South County for the “Maryland Volunteer Fire PAC” are being misrepresented as fund raising drives to benefit local fire departments.

They are not.

The Maryland Volunteer Fire PAC, the group that is fundraising, is a political action committee that raises money to lobby for firefighters. They are a legitimate organization, but in no way associated with local volunteer fire departments.

The fundaising efforts of MVF-PAC are in no way related to any fundraising efforts of the south county volunteer fire companies fundraising efforts, including Galesville and Deale.

Both Raymond Hardesty, of Galesville, and Gayle Moreland, of Deale, have issued releases to the public regarding the problem of one organization misrepresenting itself as another.

Please feel free to give to those who solicit on behalf of causes you care about, and neither fire company wants to diminish the efforts of MVF-PAC. However, please know that with that donation, you are not helping local fire companies.
