Strawberries, lots of 'em, will be the star of the festival.

If you love juicy-sweet, plump strawberries, then we have the event for you.

The Davidsonville United Methodist Church will hold its annual Strawberry Festival this from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday (May 26).

The event is bushels of fun featuring everything strawberries, like pies, shortcakes, smoothies, you name it.

The church started the strawberry festival 30 years ago to benefit their Youth Group ministries. Each year, the Mt. Airy U-Pick Farm in Davidsonville donates the berries. About 200 pounds were picked for this year’s event.

The “Tongues of Fire” BBQ Ministry Team will serve up savory pulled pork, beef brisket, pulled chicken and pit-cooked chicken.  Sandwiches and platters, hot dogs, hamburgers, and Italian sausages are also available for purchase.

The Chesapeake Pickers will provide music to keep the party going. There will also be vendors, crafts and games for younger children.
