VIDEO: Snapping Turtles Lay Eggs in Edgewater Yard
Sue and Chuck live in a woodsy neighborhood in Edgewater. It is a nice place to call home for humans—and apparently for snapping turtles too. Last summer and again this year, their yard has become a nesting site for a couple of snapping turtles.
The turtles are apparently hard-wired to return to the same place each year to lay their eggs. The couple are nice parents to the turtles, leaving the nests undisturbed and fishing the young ones out of their pool and getting them down to the river right away.
