Young Man’s Sudden Death Shocks Community
On Tuesday, Kevin E. Brennan of Edgewater died. He was 22 years old. Brennan was a 2008 graduate of South River High School. At the time of his death, he was working at Adam’s Ribs in Edgewater.
Quickly, sayings like “RIP Kevin Brennan,” made the rounds on Twitter and Facebook.
Brennan’s girlfriend was a recent graduate of South River High School. In the tight-knit Class of 2012 that just returned from beach week, text messages traveled friend to friend to friend. Many commented that the abrupt nature of Brennan’s passing was difficult to comprehend.
“Please pray for the Brennan family,” another Tweeted.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Chief Michael Cox said that emergency personnel were called to Shoreham Beach Road at 3:30 a.m. for a reported cardiac arrest of a 22 year old male. Cox said that EMS transported the victim, priority one (life-threatening), to Anne Arundel Medical Center by ambulance. Other medical records are not available due to privacy laws. Brennan’s obituary indicated he died in his sleep.
At 1 p.m. on Friday (June 15), friends are invited to Kevin’s Life Celebration at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Internment is private.

Born March 12, 1990 in Alexandria, VA, he was a 2008 graduate of South River High School. Kevin was employed as a line cook for Adam’s Ribs for the past 2 years. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, being out on the water in his canoe, cooking and trying new things at work. He also loved watching the History channel, crime shows, video games, the stars and Taco Bell. Kevin’s family was always very important to him and he lived by the motto, “Family over Everything.”He is survived by his mother, Liz Bell of Edgewater; a brother, Matthew T. Brennan of Edgewater; a sister, Kelsie E. Brennan of Edgewater; his grandmother, Rosemary Cummings of Springfield, VA; his girlfriend, Kortney, a 2012 South River High School graduate; and his beloved companion, Shadow.
