Head-on Collision at Central Avenue and Beards Point in Davidsonville
A two-car crash on Central Avenue at the intersection of Beards Point Road in Davidsonville tied up traffic during the evening ride home on Monday. The accident happened just before 6 p.m.
The drivers and occupants of both vehicles suffered non life-threatening injuries.
The westbound lane of Central Avenue (MD-214) was backed up to the Anne Arundel Department of Public Works Southern District Road Operations facility. Only a few cars at a time were let through, but forced to take the left onto Beards Point Road. Eastbound traffic on Central Avenue was getting through slowly. Traffic coming off of Beards Point Road was all diverted to westbound Central Avenue.
There were only two cars involved—a Hyundai Tiburon and a four-door BMW.
The driver of the Hyundai was taken to the hospital by ambulance for a wrist or possibly arm injury. The driver of the BMW was observed by emergency personnel at the scene.
Police accident investigators will determine how the crash happened.
