South County Festival Is This Saturday at Herrington Harbour

The South County Festival is back this year with live entertainment, delicious food, demonstrations and activities for the whole family, crafts and vendors.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday (June 23) at Herrington Harbour North Marina, 389 Deale Road in Tracys Landing. Rain date is Sunday, but Weather.com says Saturday will be partly cloudy, with a high of 83 and a 10 percent chance of rain.
As in years’ past, there will be crab races. Pick your crab by lane and tease the little guy along with a stick. Which one gets to the finish line first? Children love to cheer on the winning crustacean.
The festival is sponsored by the Southern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce, and local member businesses have gone all out to plan for a day of fun.
There will be vendors (they may still have space, call 410-867-3129 to join in), including crafters. Food will include Tropical Sno, with funnel cakes, burgers, dogs and lemonade; and Old Line BBQ with barbecue chicken, brisket and pork, plus lemonade and sodas.
The Deale Elementary School PTA is sponsoring the Children’s Activity Area. Other kid-friendly activities include a Fishing Pole Casting Contest and a Boat Regatta sponsored by Cub Scout Pack #840.
Janie Suss, author of the book, “Oscar & Olive Osprey,” will be on site—have her autograph your copy!
The Muddy Creek Artists Guild will also be there, presenting a “Do Art” activity area, an opportunity to try out different kinds of art with professional and amateur artists. If you aren’t the hands-on type, stop by to watch. You will most definitely learn something. There will also be a community mural painting with members of the guild. Grab a brush and help out.
Get ready for relay games for adults and children as well as a magic demonstration. Plus, the Stone Eagle Stables will be offering pony rides for a fee.
