‘Super Derecho’ with Thunderstrm Describes Friday’s Destructive Weather Event

According to Accuweather.com, a “Derecho” storm is the cause of Friday night’s freak weather event. Accuweather senior meteorologist , said that the storm left a 700-mile trail of destruction from the Midwest to the mid-Atlantic on Friday.

Cars were the victim of toppled trees late Friday night.

In all, the storm has killed 13 people, including an Edgewater man who died when a tree fell on his car while he was driving along Harwood Road.

Pydynowski said that there were more than 600 damaging wind reports. The derecho took 12 hours to travel from northern Indiana to the mid-Atlantic coastline. For more information on derecho storms, visit Accuweather.com.
