Home Burglarized During Electricity Outage
At 2 a.m. on July 4th, a homeowner called Anne Arundel County Police after she was awakened by noises inside her home, according to a media release from police spokeswoman Marissa Patterson. The resident said that she saw an unknown white male leaving her home through an open door.
Her home is located in the 100 block of Washington Road in Edgewater—across from Edgewater Elementary School.
The victim told police that her purse and its contents were taken by the burglar. Police patrol officers and K-9 searched the area, but were unable to locate a suspect, the report said.
The homeowner said that she left her doors and windows open because the electricity was out after last Saturday’s storm.
The police report reminded residents to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
Brooklyn Drowning of Three-Year-Old
Police also reported that, also on July 4, a three-year-old boy died of drowning at a residential pool in the 600 block of Old Riverside Road in Brooklyn in Northern Anne Arundel County.
The police report said that witnesses at the scene said the victim was at a family function, when someone realized he was missing. The father found his son at the bottom of the pool. The names of the victim and his family were not released to the media, although the report did say that they were also from Brooklyn.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department paramedics took the victim to Harbor Hospital, but at 10:25 p.m., he was pronounced dead.
An investigation continues.
