VIDEO: South County Library Program Teaches Sign Language

The Anne Arundel Public Library Program is once again offering their summer reading program at all branches. In Edgewater and South County, two of the four programs have already been presented, with two more to go.

We sat in on one of the programs at the South County branch in Deale. There, Kathy MacMillan presented her American Sign Language (ASL) storytelling program. She taught the 60 or so children in attendance all about sign language, why people use it and what it looks like. Then she ran through some stories, some sign-along songs and some audience participation. We caught it on video:

The next two programs are the Blue Sky Puppet Theatre’s, “If Pigs Could Fly” on July 17 (South County) and July 19 (Edgewater); then Joe Romano’s Dreams & Magic Show on July 23 (Edgewater) and July 25 (South County).
