D’Ville Auto Detailer Celebrates One-Year Anniversary at New Location

This July marks the one-year anniversary business owners Anthony and Jean Garufi merged their Davidsonville-based company Auto Elegance with Auto Image Detail Shop in Annapolis. According to the Garufi’s, the move and acquisition allowed the company to expand services.

Auto Elegance opened its doors in Davidsonville in March 1999. At the time, Anthony began detailing cars as a hobby. Jean worked alongside while the kids kept busy in a Pack-N-Play.

According to Jean, after a couple of years the business took off and the family decided to turn the hobby into a full-time job.

With Anthony’s prior experience detailing airplanes at the Westchester County Airport in New York, and Jean’s accounting and marketing expertise, the business quickly grew and became known as the go-to auto detail shop in Davidsonville and surrounding areas.

In July 2011, the Garufi’s bought Auto Image from Jed Donovan.  The Garufi’s had known Donovan and used him as their ‘dent man’ for many years.  In fact, he remains the  ‘paintless dent repairman’ for Auto Elegance.

Today, the Garufi’s shop not only offers traditional detailed cleaning and reconditioning services but also window tinting, headlight clarification, paint-less dent repair and windshield, interior and wheel repair. They hope to continue adding services.

The Garufi’s said they detail about six cars each day, depending on the size and the extent of the work. It’s typically same-day service, with larger vehicles requiring about five hours for a full detail.

“Some cars come in looking fairly clean, others are covered in french fries and chocolate milk,” said Jean. “We take our time and treat each vehicle with the utmost care. Our goal is to deliver a car that looks brand new when we are finished.”
