The South County Senior Center has announced a couple of trips for November and December. Reservations can be made on Wednesdays (Aug. 22, Aug. 29 and Sept. 5). Reservations are required. The trips are open to senior center members. Membership is free for anyone 55 and older who is active and independent. There are fees associated with the trips, included below. Much of the information about these trips was taken from the South County Trip Book (downloads as PDF). The three remaining trips of the year include Oct. 25, Nov. 15, and a two-day trip Dec. 5-7.

The October 25 day trip will take visitors to the New Hope Winery in Pennsylvania. A single day event, participants will depart Edgewater at 7:30 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. Total cost is $90. Final payment is due on Sept. 18.

Trip details: The New Hope Winery is located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Inside the showroom, you’ll have a reserved seat so that you can settle in for a tribute to Patsy Cline concert, performed by Joanne Stiffler. Experience the sounds that will take you back to the days of the Grand Ole Opry. Joanne’s voice will allow you to lose yourself in timeless songs that have become a permanent part of the heritage of both country and pop music. Stiffler will sing selections like, “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams,” “Bill Bailey” and “Crazy.” The trip includes charter bus transportation, wine tasting, buffet lunch, reserved seats for the Tribute to Patsy Cline show, and all taxes and tips.

The November 15 day trip is to Radio City Music Hall in New York City to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes. The trip takes place on a Thursday. The bus departs Edgewater at 6:30 a.m. and returns at 8:30 p.m. The total cost is $161 per person. Deposit of $25 reserves a spot. Final payment is due Oct. 7.

Trip details: Board in Edgewater at 6:30 a.m. for a charter bus trip into New York City. Settle in for lunch at Mont Blanc Restaurant in the theater district (provide meal choice of Chicken Breast Marsala, Grilled Salmon or Veal Dumpling). Prepare to be knocked off your feet (but you’ll be sitting) as the Rockettes perform their signature eye-high kicks and precision choreography in multiple show-stopping numbers, including the Parade of the Wooden Soldiers and New York at Christmas. Watch Santa fly high about the crowd. You’ll be touched as the true meaning of Christmas is brought to life in the awe-inspiring Living Nativity. Hop back on the bus and return home by 8:30 p.m.
Arrival time in New York and back in Edgewater are approximate, depending on traffic. Tips, gratuities, meals and reserved ticket prices are included in group ticket price. Trip Leaders are Shirley Callahan and Sally Guaragna.
