Car Crash and Victim Flyout Temporarily Closed Muddy Creek Road Early Sunday

Hydraulic spreaderAccording to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Chief Michael Cox, a staff member came upon a car accident a little before 8 a.m. Sunday morning on Muddy Creek Road in Edgewater. There was a single victim. The car was off the road and had hit a tree. It appeared that the accident had just happened and the victim had not been waiting long. The staff member called 911 and rendered care until help arrived.

The responding firefighters and emergency workers use hydraulic rescue equipment to extract the victim from the car. He was sent to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Priority 2, by Maryland State Police helicopter.

Muddy Creek Road between Central Avenue and Galesville Road was closed for a time in the 8 o’clock hour Sunday morning during the rescue and flyout. The road is now open.

The victim, a 47-year-old man sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
