DAA Girls Soccer Score a Win at Labor Day Competition

While many of us spent the Labor Day weekend casually sitting by the pool, members of the Davidsonville Athletic Association’s (DAA) U12 Girls Extreme Travel Soccer team passed, kicked and charged their way to a win in the Elite Bracket at the Olney Boys and Girls Club Capital Cup Labor Day Tournament.

Team members include Ella Bjorn, Mackenzie Charest, Delaney Dingnam, Amanda Drohat, Katie Galway, Julia Jennings, K.K. Karnes, Zoe Lape, Lindsey Mulcahy, Alyssa Rowland, Madison Scott, Breanna Smith, Alli Vanslyke, and Molly Youmans. The girls were coached by Greg Drohat, Sean Mulcahy, and trained by Steve Petrie.

This is the first year DAA has participated in this premier soccer event which hosts some 300 teams. The Davidsonville girls played a total of four games over three days including one game on Saturday; two on Sunday; and the Championship game on Labor Day.

Davidsonville outscored the Pennsylvania Soccer Academy, 3-1; tied the Northern Virginia Soccer Club Jr. Majestic Blues 1-1; and played Bethesda Academy White to a 0-0 draw.

In the Championship match, the girls beat the Alliance Premier Soccer Club from Northern Montgomery County 2-1 in overtime.

Congratulations girls!
