Blog: So Long Summer, Welcome Fall

Labor Day cookouts are behind us, tank tops and shorts are on clearance at the department stores and the pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks.
Fall is right around the corner…

Our once long summer nights will turn into a race against the sun setting at a much earlier time.
The sweat that once ran down our backs from the high temperatures will become a shiver from the chill in the air.
The green leaves that once held strong to the trees in the winds of a summer thunderstorm will turn red, orange, yellow and brown and fall to the ground.
Our meals that once ended with a refreshing slice of Key Lime pie on the porch will end with a comforting slice of pumpkin pie in front of the fire.
Our swimsuits that still hold tightly to the smell of chlorine and sunscreen will be traded in for our favorite sweatshirts.
Flower pots that were once filled with dahlias, pansies, daisies and petunias will be replaced with mums.
Kids that were once running through sprinklers will now jump into giant piles of leaves.
Summer was fun while it lasted but it’s time for a new season to take its place.
What is your favorite thing about Fall?

  1. All things pumpkin make fall the best. That and i think the weather is just perfect. I love fall.

  2. I love the smells and the comforting baked goods that I enjoy making. I miss being in the kitchen all summer- baking things I know that the boys will love- it’s just too hot and miserable here to enjoy is June-August.

    • I am with you! We only baked three times the entire summer. I try to avoid having the oven on at all costs in the heat. I just can’t see battling the A/C for chocolate chip cookies when I can open my freezer and eat a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich from Trader Joe’s. :-)
