Update: Two Killed in Head-on Collision in Deale Saturday Morning

Absorbent chemicals on the roadway were all that was left when accident investigators finished looking into this morning’s car crash on MD258 in Deale.
Update (Sept. 8: 6 p.m.): Anne Arundel County Police have released the names of the two victims of the Saturday morning car crash in Deale. They are Sarah Grace Cassidy, 32, of Dundalk and Frances Ann Shyrock-Hesson, 61, of Deale.
Janice Lynette Hollabaugh, 43, of Deale was airlifted from the scene. She is in stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
Accident investigators determined that Cassidy, who was driving eastbound on Bay Front Road in a 1998 Lexus, veered off the road, then over-corrected and hit Hollabaugh’s 2004 Honda Element head on.
Cassidy was pronounced dead at the scene. Hollabaugh had to be extracted from her car. Shyrock-Hesson was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The police report did not indicate if alcohol or speed were contributing factors. The accident remains under investigation.
Original Story: Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a head-on collision in Deale that killed two people and sent a young woman to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
The accident happened a little after 8 a.m. near the intersection of MD258 (Bay Front Road) and Rockhold Creek Road in Deale. For several hours after the crash, MD258 was closed to vehicle traffic between Franklin Gibson Road and Rockhold Creek Road while accident investigators worked the scene.
Names of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Anne Arundel County Police Lt. Glenn Shanahan said that police would be sending out a media release about the incident later in the day. We will update this story at that time.
The accident comes a full week after two people were killed in a car crash in Davidsonville last Friday. In that tragedy, a mother and her son died after their car hit a tree. The son’s funeral and viewing were taking place just up the road from this morning’s accident at Franklin United Methodist Church.
