League of Women Voters Candidate Forums Oct. 15 and 18
A candidate forum that will include District 4 Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D) and challenger Faith Loudon (R), will take place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14 at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park. The event is sponsored by the Anne Arundel County League of Women Voters (LWV). 
The forum will also include District 3 Congressman John Sarbanes (D) and challengers Paul Drgos, Jr. (L) and Eric Knowles (R). These two candidates represent areas that include Davidsonville, Edgewater, Annapolis and Severna Park in the wake of the 2011 redistricting.
South County is represented by two members in the U.S. Congress: District 4 and District 5 (Steny Hoyer). District 5 forum will take place in Calvert County (see below).
The moderator of the Severna Park forum will be Terence Smith, an award-winning political reporter, foreign correspondent, editor and television analyst. Woods Memorial is located at 611 Baltimore Annapolis Parkway in Severna Park.
According to a media release from the LWV, voters will get the opportunity to ask direct questions of the candidates. Candidates will have time and opportunity to explain their positions on a variety of issues.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan, non-profit political organization that educates voters to encourage informed and active participation in government. Co-sponsors include the American Association of University Women and the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of Maryland.
The Calvert County League of Women Voters will hold a District 5 Congressional forum on 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Calvert Pines Senior Center 450 West Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick.
