Deale VFD’s Morgue Manner Opens This Friday
The Deale Volunteer Fire Department will be opening their annual Morgue Manor haunted house on Friday (Oct. 12). The scary attraction is a fundraiser for the fire company, which services the Deale area in southern Anne Arundel County and is frequently called to help with incidents in northern Calvert. They also assist in water rescues.
Deale VFD has been organized as a volunteer company since 1946. Today they have both volunteer and career firefighters and EMS on staff.
Morgue Manor itself is an abandoned dwelling off of Owings Beach Road in Deale. Visitors park at the Deale Fire Hall on Drum Point Road. From there, they take a shuttle bus to the house. Tour guides walk visitors in small groups through the house, which is decorated in scary scenes. It could be a hospital with gory body parts or a room with scary clowns or mummies or whatever they come up with.
Each year the house is reconfigured so that it will be an unexpected surprise for visitors who come back year after year.
The event will be open from 7 to 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 12-13; Oct. 19-20; Oct. 25-28 and Nov. 1-3. The attraction is weather dependent. If you are afraid they might be closed, call 410-867-1350 before heading out.
Admission is $13 per person. Children five and under are free.
Park at the Fire Hall, 6007 Drum Point Road in Deale and take the shuttle bus. Food and refreshments will be available and for sale.
Please note that no refunds will be given if you get to the house and are too scared to go in (just consider it a donation to the fire company).
