Davidsonville Chili Cookoff Set for Nov. 3. Register by Oct. 25.
The first weekend in November, the Davidsonville United Methodist Church Youth Group will be hosting a Lone Star Chili Cook-Off. The event is open to all chili cooks as well as those that love to eat chili. The proceeds will benefit Davidsonville UMC’s Youth and Church Missions. The event will take place at the church, 815 W. Central Avenue in Davidsonville.
It will cost participants $25 to enter a chili in the cookoff. Enter any kind: Cincinatti, Chili with Beans, Chili Con Carne, Texas Five Alarm, White, Vegetarian, Turkey, Sante Fe Chicken, Three-Bean, Venison, Buffalo, you name it (those were all I could think of and Google).
Chili will be served to the judges at 11:30 a.m. Judging will begin at high noon. Judges will be looking for flavor, texture, consistency and aroma. Prizes will be given for first, second and third place. Each entry will get a DUMC Lone Star Chili Cook Off T-shirt. Entry forms and entrant information can be found here. Registrations need to be received by Oct. 25.
The general admission fee for the general public includes all-you-can-eat-chili for $10 (adults) and $7 (children under 12).
In addition, there will be music and local vendors.
