Children’s Author Fred Bowen Coming to Town

Children’s author Fred Bowen’s specialty is sports stories. Bowen is one of today’s most popular sports fiction writers. His books include:¬†Quarterback Season, Real Hoops, Touchdown Trouble and Soccer Team Comeback. His books are enormously popular among the third to sixth grade set.

Bowen is coming to Davidsonville at 6 p.m. on Nov. 12. He’ll give a talk and autograph copies of his books. The event is co-sponsored by Central, Crofton Meadows, Crofton Woods, Crofton, Davidsonville, Edgewater and Mayo elementary schools.

Bowen was born in Massachusetts and played on the little league team that his dad coached. He went to college in Pennsylvania and law school in Washington DC. He then became a father and eventually a coach for the teams his children played on. His children are adults now. He closed down his law practice several years ago and took to writing full time. Bowen also writes for the Washington Post newspaper.

He lives in Silver Spring with his wife and dog. His favorite teams are the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics.

At the Davidsonville talk, he will talk to students about how he comes up with ideas for stories.
