Two Local Foundations to Hold Fundraiser at Heroes Pub Nov. 24
The Kevin E. Reichardt Foundation will host its 12th Annal Turkey Bash at Heroes Pub in Annapolis on on Saturday, Nov. 24. The event will raise money for scholarships to St. Mary’s High School and college for young men and women who are community leaders, scholars and athletes.
The Kevin E,.Reichardt Foundation was started in January 1995 after Kevin was randomly shot and killed while riding his bicycle at the University of North Carolina.
Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded 50 scholarships to deserving students who embody the characteristics and spirit of Kevin.
The Reichert family is prominent in the area. They own Dogwood Acres dog kennel and previously owned a veterinary hospital.
After middle school, Kevin transferred to St. Mary’s in Annapolis where he was a star lacrosse, basketball and soccer player. He went on to play on the varsity lacrosse team at the University of North Carolina.
This year, the Reichardt Foundation will partner with the Kellie Thompson Shiley Family Trust.
Kellie Thompson, a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and the University of North Carolina, passed away this July from complications following the birth of twin baby girls.
Kellie played lacrosse at St. Mary’s and the University of North Carolina where she was named as America’s top high school player and a three-time All American as a Tar Heel.
The Turkey Bash runs from 3 til 7 p.m. There will be drink specials, a silent auction and door prizes. Admission is $20 per person.
Heroes Pub is located at 1 Riverview Avenue, Annapolis.
