BLOG: Cedar Grove to Help Sandy Victims With Donation Drive

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” ~ John Wesley

Cedar Grove United Methodist Churchin Deale felt the call to action in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. Won’t you join us? We can use your help!

Devastation from Hurricane Sandy has left many in need.

On Monday, the governor of New York put the devastation from Sandy at about $30 billion in New York alone.

So, Cedar Grove Sunday School classes will be assembling cleaning buckets for cleanup on Nov. 18. The cost of each bucket is $55. In order to create as many buckets as possible, the church is asking for help from the public. Contribute donations of supplies or money. Checks can be written out to Cedar Grove UMC with “buckets” in the memo. These tax-deductible contributions can be sent to  5965 Deale-Churchton Road, Deale, MD 20751. Any amount will help.

In addition, local businesses are being asked to step forward to contribute something.

This drive fits with the virtue of “cooperation,” which are Sunday School students are learning about.

Donations can be sent to the church, mailed, or brought to worship service on Sunday.

The buckets will be packed during Sunday School on November 18 at 9 a.m. That will be followed with a special worship service at 10 a.m. that includes each family decorating Yule Logs in preparation of Advent.

100% our relief efforts will be going DIRECTLY to those in need.

Cedar Grove is Reaching Out, Growing Close & Changing Lives. Don’t forget to spread the word about this project with your friends and neighbors or through Facebook.
