BIZ NOTES: Cupcakes, Prescriptions and a Spay and Neuter Shop
October and November are a busy time in South County. Between Fall Festivals and people gearing up for Christmas, it seems like starting a new business could easily be postponed until January.
No-Siree.
Businesses are popping up left and right.
LilyRose Cakes, Cupcakes & Confections is opening in Edgewater in December. The cupcake and cake store is located at 8 Mayo Road across from Edgewater Fitness (the old Safeway). They’ll have cupcake and cake decorating classes as well as cupcake parties in their party room. There is also a wedding cake consult area. Out front, cupcakes, cakes and confections will be accompanied by coffee from a glorious silver machine that looks like it could help the Space Shuttle land. We’re told it makes a great cup of java.
On Friday (Nov. 16), they’ll open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by for an assortment of cupcakes, scones, tea, coffee and espresso.
Deale Pharmacy opened in late October on Deale Churchton Road. The owner, Dr. Surinder Singal, has a thing for opening pharmacies. He ran Friendly Pharmacy in Churchton and another pharmacy in Dunkirk. He sold those and opened the new one. He’ll be doing deliveries and keeping hours Monday through Saturday. There will be typical pharmacy fare, over-the-counter medications and medical supplies.
Rude Ranch, a no kill animal shelter located in Harwood, recently opened Spa Spay &Neuter Nook at 1251 West Central Avenue in Davidsonville. The clinic offers high quality, low-cost spay and neuter services for cats and dogs. Prices range from $40 to $160 depending on the weight of the animal. Additional services include vaccinations, heartworm, microchips, nail trims and flea and tick treatments. They are open Monday – Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 pm. and are closed Friday through Sunday.
