There are a few restaurants in South County serving Thanksgiving dinner including the Killarney House, Yellowfin and Pirates Cove. Coconut Joes in Edgewater is holding a Thanksgiving Eve Happy Hour on Wednesday, Nov. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. DJ Kenny will be on-hand to entertain guests into the wee hours of the night.
Killarney House in Davidsonville is offering a Thanksgiving buffet from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The main dining room is currently booked; however the heated patio is first-come, first-serve. The menu includes Carved Roast Turkey served with Gravy and Cranberry, Baked Ham and Stuffing, Carved Roast Beef, Tilapia in a Citrus Creme Sauce, Champ Potatoes, Carrots and Parsnips, Fresh Mixed Vegetables, Garden Rice, Mashed Butternut Squash, Salads and Desserts. Pirates Cove in Galesville is offering a traditional Thanksgiving buffet from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The menu includes Roasted Turkey, Southern Maryland Ham, Oyster Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Corn Pudding, Desserts and more. Edgewater Starbucks is open from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both the Edgewater and West River High’s are also open on Thanksgiving Day.
Last Minute Trip to the Grocery Store
Don’t fret if you forgot the green beans or pumpkin pie. Numerous supermarkets and convenience stores are open on Thanksgiving Day including the Edgewater Safeway from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Edgewater Giant from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Christopher’s Fine Foods from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Davidsonville Country Market will host its second annual Pie Run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by to see the cars and pick up a homemade pie at the same time. Quantities are limited.
Christophers Fine Foods in West River will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are offing a carry out “Holiday Meal in a Box.” It serves 8 to 10 people and includes turkey, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, celery stuffing, cranberry relish for $59.99. The dinner is fully cooked, but must be heated before serving. Order at the store or go online and complete the form.
Time to Get Out of the House
After the dinner is over and the dishes are cleaned and put away, head over to the Greene Turtle in Edgewater for a night cap. They are open from 3 p.m. til 1 a.m. and will offer the regular menu along with some Thanksgiving favorites including a delicious Pumpkin Pie Milkshake.
