Turn Around Consignments in West River Grand Opening This Saturday

On Saturday, Nov. 17, Turn Around Consignments on Muddy Creek Road in West River will celebrate its grand re-opening under the ownership of Deale resident Jennifer Schiavone.

Turn Around Consignments in Deale is under new management. Check it out for fun, chic outfits, shoes, purses and more.

Schiavone purchased the store in September and has refurbished it into a boutique consignment shop that offers “something for everyone,” according to Schiavone.

She said that she is excited about the new venture and has bolstered inventory to include clothing for children, women and men, along with limited housewares, furniture and toys. Schiavone also sells maternity clothes, belts, purses and shoes.

Schiavone, who describes herself as “picky”, said that 90 percent of the  inventory is clothing. As you walk through the store, you’ll see that many of the items still have the original sales tags.

Schiavone said she is a consignment shopper herself, barely buying retail unless she has to.

She is the mother of young children who was has lived in Deale for 13 years and is an active member of the community. She is the current PTA president for Deale Elementary and is a Daisy Troop Girl Scout leader.

Schiavone said she always wanted to open a consignment shop and casually started looking for a spot in August.  By chance, she learned that Turn Around Consignments was up for sale.

Within a week it was hers.

“I live my life by signs,’”  Schiavone said. “It was no coincidence that I decided to open a consignment shop and within days found ‘ Turn Around.’”

New consignors are welcome. Items are placed on the floor for 60 days. If not sold, Schiavone donates them to local churches.  Currently Schiavone is looking for fall and winter items. She accepts up to 20 items per person per week on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.

Prices are affordable. A pair of pants costs about $12 for adults and $10 for a shirt. A whole outfit runs about $20. For the fashion-impaired, Schiavone is hosting a monthly “Shopping Hour with Shelly Simi”.  For one hour, Simi will help shoppers put together outfits using items in the store.

The first shopping hour is planned for Thursday, Nov. 28.

Turn Around Consignments is located at 5544 Muddy Creek Drive. It’s open Tuesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and closed Sunday and Mondays. Their email is turnaroundconsignment@gmail.com; or Facebook Turn Around Consignments. Phone: 410-867-8675.

“We have a lot of new, fun, sassy items,” said Schiavone. “Check us out and let us turn around your thinking about consignment shopping.”
