Southern High Future Farmers Veep Highlighted in National Magazine

Brooke Catterton, vice president of Southern High School’s chapter of Future Farmers of America, has been selected as one of the “Six FFA Shining Stars” by Wrangler Jeans and New Horizons magazine.

Brooke, who was nominated for the prize because she “is an excellent role model to others,” sees the award as bigger than just an individual honor.

“To be recognized by New Horizons is quite an honor for me, but the true recognition belongs to our growing FFA organization and Agricultural Science Program, which has provided a great opportunity for me and many of my classmates,” she said.

Southern High Principal Marc Procaccini agreed. “Brooke’s recognition by New Horizons is a reflection and representation of the hard work and dedication of the students in Southern’s FFA organization, as well as our Agricultural Science Program under the leadership of Dr. (Joshua) Rice.”

Brooke’s efforts are featured in the magazine’s Winter 2012-2013 edition.

Information received from Anne Arundel County Public Schools spokesman Bob Mosier.
