Weekend Roundup: Six Ways to Celebrate the Holiday Season
If you’re looking for ways to celebrate the season this weekend, check out these festive, family-friendly events. From visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, to Christmas concerts, wreath-making and S’mores around the fire pit, there’s something for everyone.
Santa at Greenstreet Gardens

This is the last weekend Santa and Mrs. Claus will stop by Greenstreet Gardens so don’t miss out on Mrs. Claus reading holiday stories, free Christmas cookies made by Santa’s elves, the live nativity scene and more.
Holiday Crafts at the Edgewater and South County Library

The South County Library in Deale is hosting a Holiday Craftapolooza on Saturday where kids of all ages can make fun holiday cards. Stop by the the Edgewater location and make cool winter crafts.
Christmas Benefit Concert at Mt. Zion’s United Methodist Church‘s King’s Cafe

Mount Zion United Methodist Church is partnering with Southern High School Jazz Band to hold a special Christmas Benefit Concert to support Southern High’s Band and Choral programs. A $5 suggested donation will provide a meal and snacks. There will also be a silent auction with items from area businesses that individuals can be bid on.
Santa at Homestead Gardens
Date: Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday, Dec. 16
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Sat) and noon to 4 p.m. (Sun)

Santa will stop by Homestead Gardens this weekend as well offering kids one last chance to place their Christmas requests. Take in the magnificent train display, make a craft for the holiday table, or meander through the holiday gift shop.
Southern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce Holiday Shoppe

Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday is the last day for the Chamber’s annual Holiday Shoppe. Pick up locally made items including blankets, scarves, crafts, soaps, local honey, jams and jellies, candles and much more.
Make a Holiday Swags or Wreath at Ciminelli’s Ecoasis Garden Center
Date: Friday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Dec. 15

Make your own holiday swag with all-natural plant materials. Gather around the bonfire for free S’mores and hot chocolate. Check out the locally made gifts and crafts such as Maryland-made chainsaw bears, Cottage Girl garden signs and garden gift baskets, In addition, also take home a Poinsettia or Christmas tree.
