Egg-citing Easter Events in South County

Easter events are popping up all over South County beginning this Saturday, March 23  at Greenstreet Gardens at 391 West Bay Front Road in Lothian.  The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. with an Easter Parade followed by an Egg Hunt in the back of the farm.  After collecting brightly-colored Easter eggs, enjoy a magic show and refreshments. Greenstreet Gardens will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 23 where they will give away hundreds of brightly-colored eggs filled with candy.

Over in Davidsonville, the Easter Bunny hops into town on Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. for an egg-citing Easter Lunch and Egg Hunt at the Davidsonville Ruritan Center at 3358  Davidsonville Road.  Kids of all ages are welcome to join the Easter Bunny for lunch and have their photo taken for $5.   At 12:30 p.m., the children (up to age 12) line up for the big Easter Egg Hunt in the side yard. For canine lovers, let your dogs in on the fun by attending an Easter Egg Hunt at the Edgewater Pet Value at 68 West Central Ave. on Sunday, March 24 from noon until 3 p.m. A kiddie pool filled with Easter eggs containing tasty treats for the dogs will entertain all. All pets must be on a leash.

On Saturday, March 30, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at 122 Bayard Road in Lothian invites the whole family to come hear the message about “Jesus” and then join in an Easter Egg Hunt. Starting at 11 a.m., there will be arts and crafts, games and delicious food. All ages are welcome. Contact LaVina Trott or Susan Beeson to volunteer at 410-867-4035.

Or, hop over to Holy Family Catholic Church at 826 West Central Ave. on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. for their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Party.  Gather in the old social hall for crafts, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and an Egg Hunt. Bring a canned food item to donate to the local pantry.

Just down the road, Riva Trace Baptist Church at 475 West Central Avenue will hold its Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. The day is filled with egg hunts for all ages, pony rides, inflatable moon bounces, carnival games, face paintings and refreshments. There is a suggested donation of $4 per child or $10 maximum per family. Rain or shine.

The Mayo United Methodist Church at 1005 Old Turkey Point Rd. will host its Easter Spring Fling on Saturday, March 30 as well. The festivities include an Easter egg hunt for the kids, games, prizes, crafts, face painting, a bake sale and pictures with the Easter Bunny. The event runs from 10 a.m. 2 p.m.

Several local churches have Easter Egg Hunts planned for Easter Sunday. St. James Parish at 5757 Old Solomons Rd. will hold an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. in the churchyard.  Joy Reigns Lutheran Church at 35 Mayo Road has organized an Easter breakfast and Egg Hunt at 9:30 a.m. and All Hallows Churchat 864 West Central Ave. and 3604 Solomon’s Island Rd. will turn the kids loose to hunt for Easter eggs following the 10:30 service.

Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 5965 Deale-Churchton Road in Deale will have a Fun and Son Community Easter celebration on Saturday (March 30) from 11 to 2 p.m. Fun for the whole family. Live bunnies, arts and crafts, moon bounce and more. Rain or shine. Get a free hot dog, chips and a lemonade. Next Sunday, they’ll have an Easter Egg Hunt (Easter Sunday) at 9 a.m. ahead of the 10 a.m. service.
