Route 2 Resurfacing Project Nears Completion

Road improvements on Route 2 between Central Avenue (214) and Swallows Lane are almost finished according to Maryland State Highway Administration spokesman Robert Rager.

Rager said the roadway and shoulder of Route 2 is being milled down. Once complete, a smooth, paved surface will be applied along with new striping. Rager said the main travel lanes are 90 percent complete, leaving mostly the shoulders and the re-striping.

Route 2 is being resurfaced between Central Avenue and Swallows Lane.

The state will spend an estimated $900,000 to resurface this two-mile stretch of highway. The project began on May 5. If the weather remains good, the work should be finished by the end of next week.

The work is being done Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to minimize traffic delays.
