Bowie Woman, Lusby Man Arrested in Connection With Attempted Purse Snatching

Anne Arundel County Police arrested two people on Monday after an attempted purse snatching incident at the Graul’s Market in Cape St. Claire. The suspects, both in their thirties, were from Bowie and Lusby. Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said that the incident began around 10 a.m. on Monday.

Police believe that the female suspect tried to grab a purse from an elderly woman in the checkout line at the store. The victim, 78, put up a fight and the woman fled without getting the purse.

Next, two store employees gave chase and the woman was caught and detained in the parking lot. She was returned to the store where an off-duty Anne Arundel County Police officer took her into custody, Mulcahy said.

Russell Richards was also arrested in connection with the incident in Cape St. Claire.
