Monday Robbery on Davidsonville Road Ends with Arrest of Gambrills Man, 20

Anne Arundel County Police Department spokesman Justin Mulcahy said that a 20-year-old Gambrills man was arrested on Monday after a robbery  was reported around 8 a.m. in the 2000 block of Davidsonville Road, this is near the intersection with Route 3/301 in Crofton.

When police arrived at the scene, a man, 21, said that he walked out of a business when another man approached and asked for money.  The victim said that he removed his wallet to comply when he was “suddenly assaulted,” the report said.
The suspect then ran off with the victim’s wallet and its contents. Police officers and the K-9 unit responded and checked the area and surrounding neighborhoods. Initially, they were unable to locate the suspect.Detectives and officers worked together on the investigation to identify a person/identity. While at the alleged suspect’s home, officers saw the suspect walking by. He fled on foot into the woods near his home in the 2500 block of Davidsonville Road (between Defense Highway and Route 50). Officers, detectives and K-9 searched the area and took Nicholas Greg Smith, 20, into custody after a foot pursuit near the Crofton Library.

Smith was charged with robbery, assault and related charges.
