HOT SHOTS: Riders and Horses Brave the Heat at Black-Eyed Susan Horse Show

This weekend’s hot temperatures did not keep hundreds of kids and adults from saddling up and competing at the Black-Eyed Susan Horse Show  (BEST) at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro.

Local barns in attendance included Baywood Farms (Harwood); En-Tice-Ment Stables/Obligation Farm (Harwood and Davidsonville); Harmony Ridge Stables (Lothian); and Tag Along Farm (Davidsonville).

Baywood Farms sponsors the BEST Show Series.  There are a total of eight shows which begin in mid-March and run through the end of August. Classes are held on Saturday and Sunday for kids, adults, horses and ponies of all skill levels.

We captured some of the riders and ponies as they attempted to stay cool under pop-up tents and in front of fans. Some of the ponies even enjoyed a sip of Gatorade to stay hydrated.

Enjoy the photos!
