London Towne Celebrates Family and Fun With 34th Annual Week of Activities

For over three decades, London Towne has celebrated being a community in Edgewater with their Community Family Week, formerly Community Awareness Week Aug. 10-18. The week is put on by the London Towne Property Owner’s Association (LTPOA).

Just think, when it got started back in 1979, a gallon of gas cost .89¢, while the minimum wage in the state was $2.90. Some things, however, have remained the same. Kids still like to fish, Marylanders still love their crab feasts and the five beaches volleyball tournament is still pitting neighbor against neighbor in the most friendly of competitions.

The fun gets started Aug. 10 when the fishing and crabbing contest kicks off at 7 a.m. That’ll run through the 18th.  New this year is the crab soup contest, where you could win the Golden Crab Mallet. Bring your crock pot and ladle (and soup) to the Family Fun Festival on Aug. 11. See the schedule, below for further details. Unless otherwise noted, events are held at the Community Hall, 170 Mayo Rd (410-956-4808).
