Broadstripe Cable is Now Up and Running and Ready to Service South County Customers
We wrote about Broadstripe Cable coming to South County in a story earlier this month, but now they are up and running and ready to service families in Southern Anne Arundel County. Here’s the media release the company just sent out:
Broadstripe, an Anne Arundel Broadband Company, is excited to announce new service to the families of Southern Anne Arundel County. Thanks to the “One Maryland” Broadband Network, our neighbors in rural Southern County will soon be able to access an all new fiber cable network.
As early as this September, Broadstripe will bring fiber-optic service to areas in South County that include Lothian, Tracy’s Landing, West River and Deale, offering over 195 television channels including local stations, sports, basic cable, and premium channels like HBO and Showtime, as well Pay-Per-View movies and special events. Telephone service and high speed Internet access up to 30Mbps will also be available for the very first time. Customers can place orders now to be the first in the area to receive Broadstripe’s new FiberNet service.
Broadstripe has teamed with the State of Maryland and Anne Arundel County to complete this South County project which is part of a Federal initiative to bring high speed Internet access to rural areas of the United States. Broadstripe is very proud to have been chosen to support this highly anticipated project, and has been partnering with the county for more than 18 months to provide this service to the people of South County. Broadstripe looks forward to starting installations in the early fall which will coincide perfectly with school openings. Moms and dads of Southern Anne Arundel County may now be able to telework and youngsters will have access to Internet tools necessary for school success in a fast and efficient way.
“We are happy to work closely with Anne Arundel County in providing service to our neighbors to the south; we look forward to expanding the community we serve,” said Broadstripe CEO John Bjorn. “We are a local company that has always focused on providing value and great service to our community. It is thrilling to be a part of an effort that will provide the families of South County more choice in Internet, phone, and TV.”
“Broadstripe has been a tremendous partner on this project,” said Laura Neuman, Anne Arundel County Executive. “Working together, we were able to create a successful ‘last-mile’ solution to getting broadband service to rural Anne Arundel County. Broadstripe stepped up to the challenge and their effort will pay off in a big way for the residents of Southern Anne Arundel County. As a result, nearly 100 percent of our residents will have access to wired broadband.”
