Southern AA Chamber to Present Healthcare Reform Forum for Local Businesses Sept. 10

The Southern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce along with Reilly Benefits Professional Employee Benefits Specialists is hosting an information session for local businessmen and women on the topic of Healthcare Reform changes and and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The event is open to Southern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce members and non-members.

The event will be held at Happy Harbor Restaurant, 533 Deale Road in Deale at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 10.

David Reilly, CEBS, CBC, GBA and owner of Reilly Benefits, will discuss health care exchanges and general health care reform issues along with the impact of current events and regulations on business group plans. April Ewaski, health insurance consultant at Reilly Benefits, will discuss the individual market, since many business owners may choose individual coverage.

Aetna, an insurer based in Connecticut, announced in early August, their intention to withdraw from the state health inexchange.  According to the Maryland Insurance Administration, this will impact around 11,500 consumers. According to the Baltimore Business Journal, their withdrawal means that Aetna will not be eligible to offer insurance on the individual market at all. Aetna has not yet announced any plans to withdraw from the small business market, but if it does, they would no longer be able to participate in the small group market.

The presenters will help you sort this out for your small business. Cost is (before Sept. 2): $10 for chamber members or $15 for non-members. After Sept. 2, the cost increases by $5 ($15 for members; $20 for non-members). Continental Breakfast will be offered.
