Drum Corps Practicing on South County Fields This Weekend in Preparation for World Championships
If you plan on heading to the park this weekend for sports practice or for a bit of exercise, be on the look out for Drum Corps teams who are schedule to practice on select South County fields in preparation for the Drum Corps Associates Annual World Championships being held in Annapolis over the Labor Day weekend.
According to Wikipedia, Drum Corps Associates is an organization for senior or all-age drum and bugle corps in North America.
Anne Arundel County Department of Parks and Recreation reports that drum corps groups are scheduled to practice at Davidsonville Park, and Riva Park along with Central Elementary and Central Special.
Specific practice times have not been provided as practices will vary depending on the competition rounds and who advances to the preliminaries and finals.
This is the second year the Drum Corps Associates’ World Championships have been held at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. The competition begins on Friday, August 30 and ends on Sunday, September 1.
Some 12,000 drum corp participants and fans are expected to descend on the Annapolis area this weekend to hear the amazing sounds from drum corps from all over the world.
