Family Fun Run Honoring Former DAA Gator Kellie Thompson Shiley Set for Sept. 22

A Family Fun Run will be held on Sunday, September 22 in honor of Kellie Shiley Thompson, a former Davidsonville Athletic Association (DAA) Gator, who died from complications following the delivery of her twin girls in July 2012.

The event will be held at Queen Anne County’s Cross Island Trail which spans Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County.

Runners can choose between a 5K and one mile course. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk starts at 9:15 a.m.

All proceeds benefit the Kellie Thompson Shiley Family Trust which was established to ensure support for her three children.

The cost to participate is $30 per person up until race day and $35 for on-site registration. Children 12 and under are free.

Awards will be presented to the top male and female in each age group, plus overall male and female times.  Age groups include:

  • Sixteen and under;
  • Seventeen to 30 years old;
  • Thirty-one to -45 years old;
  • Forty-five to 60 years old; and
  • Sixty and over

The first 300 runners to register will receive a race day t-shirt.

After sprinting, or walking briskly across the finish line, bring your race bib to the Jetty Dock Bar at 201 Wells Cove Road in Gransonville, Maryland and enjoy a complimentary beer.
