Boat Flies Off Trailer in Davidsonville, Destroys Half Dozen Parked Vehicles

Around lunchtime on Wednesday afternoon, a boat being towed on a trailer flew off the trailer and destroyed seven vehicles in Davidsonville. The boat is a total loss and several of the vehicles are total losses. There were no injuries. The incident happened in the 500 block of Central Avenue, the cars involved were all parked at Catlett’s Auto Service Center in their parking lot.

According to witnesses, a man was towing a boat westbound on Central Avenue when the boat began to come off the trailer. As it came off the trailer, it became airborne, traveling up a hill and over several vehicles, including three large trucks, before coming to rest on the pavement in the parking lot.

There was little damage to the truck that was trailering the boat. The trailer itself came to rest perpendicular to the boat.

“It made a hell of a noise,” one witness said.

The boat was not strapped or chained to the trailer.
