Wine Tasting, Antique Evaluation and Tastings by Local Caterers on Oct. 12

The Galesville Heritage Society (GHS) will present an evening of fun, food and wine from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct 12 at Galesville Memorial Hall on Main Street in Galesville. Plan to attend and spend a couple hours enjoying wine, fine food and antiques.  There will be a talented young man performing live music to enhance the experience. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. galesville

A panel of local antique shop owners and collectors will be on hand to evaluate collectibles and antiques brought in by attendees.  Bring in a family heirloom or two that you have been curious about!  Check the  website to see the kind of items with which they have expertise. No stamps, fine art or weapons, please.

The wines will be provided by two local wine makers.  Thanksgiving Farm in Harwood makes wine exclusively from its own vineyard here in Anne Arundel County and Friday’s Creek Winery from Calvert County.  You may sample any or all of the wine selections, purchase a glass or two or buy some bottles to take home (or all three).

The evening event also will feature a taste of local restaurants that offer catering services.  Several of our finest local food establishments – Whitman’s Catering (South County Cafe), Pirate’s Cove, Skipper’s Pier and others will offer an assortment of their appetizers and catering fare.

If you join the GHS that evening, you will get the $5 admission discount.  One antique to be evaluated is included in the admission price.  If you would like more than one item evaluated, additional items are $5 each.

There also will be a silent auction at the event.  If there is an item you would like to donate, the Society  welcomes your support.  It is a 501(c) 3 non-profit and donations are tax deductible.   Services such as landscaping, carpentry, plumbing, fishing or sailing charters and weekend vacation home stays always are popular, as well as, collectibles or small antiques.  To donate, please send an email to the Society’s President, Bill Whitman  (
