BACK ON! South River Federation’s Fall Kayak Sojourn Set for Oct. 19

Please note: The South River Federation had to reschedule this event from last weekend due to the rain. It is now set for Oct. 19. This story has been updated to reflect the rescheduled date.

The South River Federation is inviting the public to come out for a fall celebration, kayak sojourn and picnic on Oct. 19 starting at 10 a.m. The event is being held this year at Harbor Hills Community Beach in Davidsonville.

Bring or rent a kayak and get out on the water during South River Days.

Bring or rent a kayak and get out on the water!

You can bring your own kayak or canoe, or rent a kayak through Annapolis Community Boating. The picnic is free for everyone. Sarah Boynton of the South River Federation said to “come for the picnic whether you participate in the kayak trip or not!”

Sarah would also appreciate an RSVP to or call 410-224-3802

Here’s more information from the South River Federation:

Important Information Regarding Kayak Trip: The sojourn will start at 10 a.m.  We are asking for people to arrive between 9:45 and 10:00 a.m. to unload kayaks so we can launch promptly at 10 a.m.  We will explore the beautiful headwaters and Flat Creek.

Things to Bring: With the change of season, comes the change of both air temperature and water temperature.  The forecast for Saturday is cool, so please dress appropriately.  It would be a good idea to bring a change of clothes in case you get wet.  Other items to bring: water bottle, binoculars, hat, and sunscreen.

Picnic (Starting at Noonish): Thanks to Whole Foods Annapolis, we will enjoy sandwiches and endless fruit and veggies.  Even if you can’t make the kayak trip, we still want to see you.  Feel free to join us for the picnic.  This is a day to celebrate the South River!

Parking: There is parking down by the pavillion, so you’ll be able to park and then unload your kayak.
