Pumpkin’ Chunkin’ and Fall Fest at Trent Hill Farm on Saturday
On Saturday, Oct. 26, Trent Hill Farm and Nursery in Lothian will be hosting a Fall Festival. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will include a pumpkin’ chunkin’, a kids apple target contest, wine tasting from Thanksgiving Farm and Winery from harwood, Hay Rides through the fields, straw maze, DJ/music, pumpkin painting, tree, shrub and plant specials, plus food and drink.
They’re asking for people to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit SCAN—the South County Assistance Network at St. James
Parish in Lothian.
Becky said that the pumpkin’ chunkin’ is a kind of pumpkin slingshot.
“It’s not like the event in Delaware. This isn’t a catapult. People get to participate—do it themselves,” she said.
The slingshot are a couple six-by-six posts in the ground with rubber tubing attached. You put a pumpkin in a pocket, pull back, and watch it fly.
“It goes about 500 feet,” she said.
Tickets are $5 each for a chance to fling a pumpkin that is a little smaller than a No 4 soccer ball. She said that they’ll also have apples to fling, which are fun too.
Trent Hill Farm is located at 24 Nutwell Road in Lothian.
