VIDEO: Tray Chaney of HBO’s ‘The Wire’ Visited Central Elementary on Friday

On Friday, actor, author and rapper (and father) Tray Chaney, of HBO’s 2002-2008 series, “The Wire,” came to Central Elementary School in Edgewater for an anti-bullying event. Fifth graders from Central, and Davidsonville Elementary School—who were brought in for the event, attended. It was hosted by the Maryland State Education Association and the Teacher’s Association of Anne Arundel County (TAAAC).

Chaney has visited about 14 schools in Anne Arundel County, delivering a message to children about ending bullying. Chaney himself said that he was a victim of bullying until about eighth grade. He reflected on his own experience and walked the children through taking an anti-bullying pledge. Each student got a copy of the pledge signed by Chaney.

Chaney will continue to tour the state with MSEA to bring the message to more students.
