South County: Expect Icy Conditions for Wednesday Morning Commute

English: A tree branch completely en-globed in...

Expected icy conditions Wednesday morning could hamper your commute.

Oh joy. The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. on Wednesday for Anne Arundel and Prince Georges counties. There is a winter storm warning in effect for areas north of Baltimore County.

We shouldn’t see any snow from this winter storm event. Just freezing rain, ice and then rain.

The winter weather may start as ice overnight and then switch to rain by Wednesday. During the day on Wednesday, temperatures should rise into the mid-40s. Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 10 MPH.

Untreated sidewalks and roadways may be slippery from ice on Wednesday morning. Use extreme caution when walking and driving. Travel may become difficult during the Wednesday morning rush hour and commute.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools have not made any announcements, but you may want to prepare a contingency plan in the event of a delay in school opening.

Baltimore Gas and Electric will have its hands full with a wide area surrounding the Baltimore metropolitan area expecting winter weather conditions. Report power outages immediately to 877-778-2222. Re-report outages every 24 hours until restoration.
