Arnold Man Arrested for Attempting to Sell Stolen Goods Back to Edgewater Victim
An Arnold man, Michael David Bojanowski, 53, was arrested on Monday for attempting to sell stolen goods back to the victim, according to a media release from spokesman Justin Mulcahy, of the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
According to police, on Jan. 26, 2014, police were called to a home in the 2800 block of Solomons Island Road in Edgewater (near Yellowfin Restaurant) for a report of a burglary. The victim said that his shed had been broken into and numerous items had been taken.
On Tuesday, police said that the victim phoned Southern District detectives and told them that he believed his stolen property was for sale on Craigslist, an online classifieds website. With the help of detectives, the victim posed as the buyer and asked the seller to meet him at a public location.
That’s when Bojanowski showed up with the stolen property. Detectives then confronted the suspect and recovered all of the stolen goods. Additionally, the victim ID’d the suspect and his vehicle as someone he saw on his property prior to the burglary.
Bojanowski, of the 600 block of Oakland Hills Drive in Arnold, was charged with second degree burglary, fourth degree burglary and theft under $1,000, Mulcahy said.
Police said that the victim was appropriate in his action to notify detectives once he located his stolen property.
“This allowed detectives to safely take the suspect into custody and get all of the victim’s property returned. Detectives urge victims who may find themselves in a similar situation to contact the police for guidance and assistance prior to taking any action,” Mulcahy said.
