Man Drove Vehicle 20 Feet Into Party City Store in Annapolis Thursday. No Injuries.
Anne Arundel County Police from Southern District were called to the Riva Festival Shopping Center in Annapolis a little after 9 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a vehicle into a storefront, according to a media release from police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.
When officers got to the shopping center, they found a car had driven into the Party City store. Three employees were inside at the time. None were injured, but the building was evacuated and checked for structural soundness. There was no damage to adjacent businesses.
The driver of the vehicle was suspected to be under the influence and a standardized field sobriety test was conducted. The driver performed poorly, then admitted to using prescription medications, police said. The driver, Jason Thomas McCullough, 33, of Annapolis, was arrested and taken to Southern District where he was charged with Driving Under the Influence.
