UPDATED: SPCA at Capacity for Dogs. Half-off Adoption Fees This Weekend Only
UPDATE: A virulent strain of kennel cough has suspended the dog adoption drive. Here is their Facebook note:
Attention Folks-The SPCA has temporarily suspended dog viewings for the public as a precaution after identifying an aggressive strain of kennel cough at the shelter. During this time, all dogs will be monitored for signs of illness and the adoption area will be cleaned extensively. Please bear with us as we work to get our dogs healthy! We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may cause you.
The SPCA of Anne Arundel County needs your help! For the past month, dog adoptions have slowed down significantly and we are now at capacity with dogs. Additionally, we have been unable to rescue other dogs from the surrounding animal control facilities due to capacity issues. Currently, we have 65 dogs available for adoption and many more patiently waiting in temporary foster homes. While our partner rescue groups are doing all that they can to help us, families who are ready to adopt are encourage to come in and view the many dogs waiting for homes.
In an effort to increase adoptions of our four-legged companions the SPCA will host a Lonely Hearts Weekend Adoption Special! Adoption fees will be 50% off for dogs two years of age and older from Saturday, June 7th to Sunday, June 8th.* These dogs have been waiting for a home to call their own and some much longer. John Wall, a four year old Beagle mix has been in a shelter environment since December 2013 and he’s as sweet as they come. Dogs like John Wall have won our hearts. Please give them a chance to win yours. All dogs adopted will go home up to date on their vaccines, heartworm disease tested, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.
Help the SPCA continue to save lives. If you are interested in adopting John Wall, or another dog, please call our shelter at 410-268-4388, or visit www.aacspca.org.
