Churchton Man Arrested for Abduction of 12-Year-Old Girl in Annapolis
According to Annapolis City Police, a Churchton man was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly abducted a 12-year-old girl the day before.
Police said that a little after 3 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to the area of Skippers Lane and South Cherry Grove Avenue for a girl reporting that she had been abducted. Police said that the girl told them that she was walking in the area when a man pulled her into his vehicle, drove to a nearby street and attempted to assault her.
The girl was able to get out of the vehicle and get away. She was not injured.
The girl took police to the 100 block of Belle Drive, where the vehicle was parked when she jumped out. The vehicle was there, but the driver wasn’t around. Police found that the vehicle was registered to Cordell Salisbury, 52, of Churchton. Just after midnight on July 6, detectives arrested Salisbury in a home in the 100 block of Brightwater Drive in Annapolis, according to a media release.
Police said that Salisbury was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, second degree assault, fourth degree sex offense, attempted third degree sex offense, sexual solicitation of a minor, indecent exposure and kidnapping a child under 16.
Salisbury is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on a temporary commitment pending his hearing with the District Court Commissioner, police said.
The girl did not know Salisbury and Salisbury is not a registered sex offender, according to the report.
